CASE CCC IN THE NEWSCase Researchers Discover Gene Contributing to Cancer Development, Work to Find Counter-acting Drug FUNDING OPPORTUNITIESOncology Nursing Society Foundation Research GrantsThe Oncology Nursing Society Foundation is accepting applications for the 2013 Research Grant funding cycle. These grant awards are designed to support oncology nursing research conducted by beginning and experienced researchers. The principal investigator must be actively involved in some aspect of cancer patient care, education, or research, and be PhD- or DNSc-prepared or a student working toward one of those research degrees. Funding preference is given to projects that involve nurses in the design and conduct of the research activity and that promote theoretically based oncology practice. Membership in ONS is not required for eligibility. In addition, the ONS Foundation has partnered with other organizations to offer the following four grants. All of these specific grants use the RE01 Research Grant application. Please indicate on the RE01 grant application which, if any, of the specific grants you would like to be considered for:
LOI Deadline: September 1 AACR 2013 Scientific Awards and LectureshipThe American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) is now accepting nominations for its series of annual awards and lectureships. Scientists advancing the understanding and eradication of cancer through basic research, clinical care, therapeutics, and prevention are eligible. Recipients will be honored at the AACR Annual Meeting 2013, which will be held April 6-10, 2013, in Washington, D.C.
Nomination Deadline for all awards: September 26 MARK YOUR CALENDARSImaging Solutions in Cancer Management: A Case-based ConferenceRegistration is open for the Second Annual Imaging Solutions in Cancer Management: A Case-based Conference, September 21 at the Wolstein Research Building. This comprehensive oncologic imaging course focuses on cancer management using imaging as a diagnostic tool and as a guide for minimally invasive therapeutic applications. The course takes a practical approach using cases and features multiple specialists ranging from medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, surgeons, radiologists and basic scientists. National GvHD Health SymposiumThe Meredith A. Cowden Foundation, in collaboration with the Case CCC, Seidman Cancer Center, and Taussig Cancer Institute, presents the 2012 National GvHD Health Symposium at the Embassy Suites Cleveland-Rockside on November 2. This unique one-day conference, will consist of two-tracks- one designed for physicians and other health care professionals and one for bone-marrow transplant (BMT) survivors, their families and their caregivers. Both tracks will focus on cutting edge research and new treatments. Register today. ANNOUNCEMENTSCultural Competency Training ResourcesCultural competency training is available for Cleveland Clinic employees through the Cleveland Clinic Office of Diversity and Inclusion and for University Hospitals employees through the online Learning Management System (access via UH Intranet home page, click on Human Resources, then click on Employee Direct Access, see "2012 Resident Orientation Cultural Competency"). Additional training and resources are available from RTOG. RTOG conducted a session on Cultural Competency and Recruitment Training in June 2011, which is available on the RTOG website. This session consists of four modules, module 3 being the most useful. This module consists of several role-playing scenarios that emphasize principles important to recruitment of underserved populations. | EVENTS
