Support at the level of $50,000/year for 2 years will be provided by funds from the NCI and the CWRU SOM through the Case GI SPORE. This program is designed to support research training leading to independent careers in translational GI Cancer research. Awardees are expected to devote 70% effort to research and training, will conduct a mentored research program in the laboratory or program of one of the SPORE Investigators and have an assigned mentoring team. Applicants must be US citizens. They must have a faculty appointment at the time the scholarship begins or be in the senior year of a training program with a department commitment to a faculty appointment during the first scholarship year. Opportunity is available to faculty members at CWRU, Cleveland Clinic, MetroHealth Medical Center, UHCMC or Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center. Deadline: June 29 American Cancer Society Institutional Research Grant AwardsThe Case CCC, with funds from its American Cancer Society Institutional Research Grant (IRG), will provide seed money to foster cancer research by junior faculty who have no current national grant support of their own. Investigators in the Case School of Medicine and Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine as well as in other schools and colleges in the University are eligible. Grants, not to exceed $30,000 direct costs, will be awarded to investigators who intend to gather preliminary data to be used in seeking future and independently funded programs. Letter of Intent Deadline: July 9 DOD Lung Cancer Research Program Concept AwardApplications for the Lung Cancer Research Program (LCRP) Concept Award are being solicited by the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs, Defense Health Program. The goal of the FY12 LCRP is to eradicate deaths from lung cancer to better the health and welfare of the military and the American public. The LCRP Concept Award mechanism supports the exploration of a highly innovative new concept or untested theory that addresses an important problem relevant to lung cancer. Pre-Application Deadline: August 9 Oncology Nursing Society Foundation Advanced Practice Conference ScholarshipThe Oncology Nursing Society Foundation is accepting applications for the Advanced Practice Conference Scholarship. The purpose of this award is to support a professional nurse who has demonstrated innovation in responding to challenges in practice, that has made a difference for the patient/family, institution and/or fellow healthcare professionals.
