FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES

Individual Biomedical Research Awards

CWRU is eligible to nominate two faculty members for the Hartwell Foundation Individual Biomedical Research Awards. Projects should represent early-stage biomedical research that has not yet qualified for significant outside funding, including those not yet submitted for funding consideration. The Foundation is looking for research projects that are innovative and cutting-edge, and will only consider proposals that reflect relevance in terms of potential benefit to children.

Internal Deadline: July 15

Searle Scholars Program

CWRU is invited to submit applications for the 2012 Searle Scholar Program competition. The Searle Scholars Program makes grants to selected universities and research centers to support the independent research of exceptional young faculty in the biomedical sciences and chemistry. This limited funding opportunity is for assistant professors in a tenure-track appointment pursuing independent research careers in biochemistry, cell biology, genetics, Immunology, neuroscience, pharmacology, and relevant areas in chemistry, medicine, and the biological sciences.

Internal Deadline: July 25

Prostate Cancer Foundation Young Investigator Awards 2011

The Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) is pleased to announce another round of funding for early career prostate cancer researchers. These awards focus efforts on developing a gifted cohort of investigators to undertake the next generation of prostate cancer research. Please note: the full RFA is now available but the application website will not be accepting submissions until July 17. Mentorship is required for every PCF Young Investigator Award applicant and grantee.

Deadline: August 1

CTSC Core Utilization Pilot Grants

The Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative (CTSC) is accepting applications for the CTSC Core Utilization Pilot Grants competition. These awards fund the use of Core Services only, ranging from $1,000 to a maximum of $10,000, to aid in achieving pilot data. For new investigators and investigators seeking extramural funding in a novel line of work, the all-important preliminary data may be the critical step in competing for a larger grant. The CTSC Core Utilization Pilot Grant program is to support investigator use of CTSC Core operations, in anticipation of applications for extramural funding.

Deadline: August 1

Pilot Project Grants: American Cancer Society IRG Awards

The Case CCC is currently accepting applications for American Cancer Society Institutional Research Grant (IRG) awards. Pilot funding is available for projects in basic, clinical, prevention and control, behavioral, health services, and epidemiology cancer research with awards up to $30,000 for one-year cancer research projects that provide the basis for future independent grants.

Instructions, frequently asked questions, and application forms are available at http://cancer.case.edu. Contact Terri Daso, Cancer Center Administration (844-7252, tld6@case.edu) for more information.

LOI Deadline: June 13
Application Deadline: July 5, 2011

Case CCC Clinical Trials Funding Opportunity

The Case Comprehensive Cancer Center is announcing the availability of Protocol Specific Research Support (PSRS) funding for Year 2011. The budgeted funds are for the conduct of early phase clinical trial and restricted to support research nurses and data managers directly involved in the conduct of these clinical trials.
