Shepard, MD, PhD Ping Xia, PhD FUNDING OPPORTUNITIESIndividual Biomedical Research AwardsCWRU is eligible to nominate two faculty members for the Hartwell Foundation Individual Biomedical Research Awards. Projects should represent early-stage biomedical research that has not yet qualified for significant outside funding, including those not yet submitted for funding consideration. The Foundation is looking for research projects that are innovative and cutting-edge, and will only consider proposals that reflect relevance in terms of potential benefit to children. Internal Deadline: July 15 Searle Scholars ProgramCWRU is invited to submit applications for the 2012 Searle Scholar Program competition. The Searle Scholars Program makes grants to selected universities and research centers to support the independent research of exceptional young faculty in the biomedical sciences and chemistry. This limited funding opportunity is for assistant professors in a tenure-track appointment pursuing independent research careers in biochemistry, cell biology, genetics, Immunology, neuroscience, pharmacology, and relevant areas in chemistry, medicine, and the biological sciences. Internal Deadline: July 25 Prostate Cancer Foundation Young Investigator Awards 2011The Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) is pleased to announce another round of funding for early career prostate cancer researchers. These awards focus efforts on developing a gifted cohort of investigators to undertake the next generation of prostate cancer research. Please note: the full RFA is now available but the application website will not be accepting submissions until July 17. Mentorship is required for every PCF Young Investigator Award applicant and grantee. Deadline: August 1 CTSC Core Utilization Pilot GrantsThe Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative (CTSC) is accepting applications for the CTSC Core Utilization Pilot Grants competition. These awards fund the use of Core Services only, ranging from $1,000 to a maximum of $10,000, to aid in achieving pilot data. For new investigators and investigators seeking extramural funding in a novel line of work, the all-important preliminary data may be the critical step in competing for a larger grant. The CTSC Core Utilization Pilot Grant program is to support investigator use of CTSC Core operations, in anticipation of applications for extramural funding. Deadline: August 1 Pilot Project Grants: American Cancer Society IRG AwardsThe Case CCC is currently accepting applications for American Cancer Society Institutional Research Grant (IRG) awards. Pilot funding is available for projects in basic, clinical, prevention and control, behavioral, health services, and epidemiology cancer research with awards up to $30,000 for one-year cancer research projects that provide the basis for future independent grants. LOI Deadline: June 13 Case CCC Clinical Trials Funding OpportunityThe Case Comprehensive Cancer Center is announcing the availability of Protocol Specific Research Support (PSRS) funding for Year 2011. The budgeted funds are for the conduct of early phase clinical trial and restricted to support research nurses and data managers directly involved in the conduct of these clinical trials. Studies developed jointly between UH and CCF with planned accrual at both institutions will be prioritized. MARK YOUR CALENDARSMSC 2011: Innovations in Cell-Based Regenerative TherapiesRegistration and Abstract Submission for MSC 2011: Innovations in Cell-Based Regenerative Therapies is now open. MSC 2011, which will take place in Cleveland, August 22-24, will offer a forum for the exchange and discussion of research, ideas, and cutting-edge breakthroughs in translational regenerative medicine. NCRM members receive a discounted registration rate. CWRU SOM is a Gold Sponsor and has 20 complimentary student registrations with abstract submission to conference and all social events.
