I am a behavioral scientist focused on the use of emerging communications technologies (e.g., social media, mHealth, eHealth) in behavioral interventions to reduce nutrition, physical activity, and obesity-related disease with an emphasis on cancer control and prevention. My research includes the conduct of a novel randomized controlled trial examining the use of social media technology (Facebook) to promote physical activity among young adult females and a social media-based weight loss intervention among low-income, minority women of reproductive age. My current research includes examining associations between the characteristics of social media communications used by nutrition programs and participant engagement as well as developing novel ways to recruit survey participants using social media.
