Poster Competition

Annual Scientific Retreat 2017

Open to all graduate students, postdocs and fellows.

Monetary prizes will be awarded.

Attendance for invited presenters is complimentary, but advance registration is required.

Poster Presentation Guidelines

  • A 4'x6' board will be provided to each presenter. 
  • Pushpins will be provided.
  • If applicable, please acknowledge on your poster any support your project has received from Case CCC funds.
  • Posters can be set up from 1-2:15p on July 20. Judging will begin promptly at 2:30p, so all posters must be set up by 2:15p to be eligible for judging.
  • Posters will be judged from 2:30-4:30p. It is expected that you will be by your poster during that time and give a ten minute presentation to the judges.
  • Poster presentation session will be held from 6-8p.
  • Poster awards will be announced at 7p. 

Judging Criteria

  • Organization and Visual Presentation- Panel display is logical and aesthetically pleasing
  • Student Preparedness- Student is present and prepared to give oral description of research
  • Introduction and Background- Student provides sufficient and relevant background for a general audience
  • Experimental Design and Data Analysis- Student has designed relevant experiments to test stated hypothesis with controls. Student has applied appropriate analytical methodology
  • Conclusions and Future Directions- Conclusions follow from reasonable analysis of date with alternative interpretations explored. Student has designed additional testable hypotheses
  • Overall Presentation- Considerations of clarity, organization, poster layout, how well student handles questions

Abstract Guidelines

  • Abstracts must fit on an 8½" × 11" paper with 1" margins on all sides.
  • Include the title and authors at the top, and acknowledgements at the bottom.
  • You may have one (1) figure or one (1)  table, both in black and white, and illustrations must fit on the same page as the abstract text.
  • Please include mentor name and training program (if applicable).
  • Submit abstracts to damian.junk@case.edu by Friday, July 7 at 5p.
