ANNOUNCEMENTSNIH Awards $64.6M Grant to Case Western Reserve CTSC, Largest Ever in Northeast Ohio
Case Western Reserve University's ambitious collaboration to bring medical discoveries to patients has won an extraordinary endorsement: a $64.6 million federal grant that is the largest ever awarded in Northeast Ohio.
"Five years ago Cleveland's leading biomedical institutions came together in an unprecedented partnership that put improved health at the center of everything we do," said School of Medicine dean Pamela B. Davis, MD, PhD, the grant's principal investigator. "With today's award, the National Institutes of Health sent a powerful message to all of us: Keep up the good work." As part of Case CCC preparations for the NCI Site Visit in October 2012, it is critical that investigators and study staff ensure that information, including accrual data, is being entered into the OnCore database on an on-going basis. Accurate and timely information in OnCore forms a basis for our reporting capabilities.
OnCore Clinical Trials Management System serves as a centralized database for clinical trial and patient-related data for Case CCC consortium institutions. Studies which were submitted, reviewed and approved by the Protocol Review and Monitoring Committee (PRMC) are listed in OnCore and as such information related to these studies have to be maintained in OnCore. This applies to the following studies – therapeutic, supportive, preventive, screening, early detection, diagnostic, ancillary, correlative, epidemiological, observational, and outcome.
Please make every effort to ensure that information on your studies is accurate and up-to-date. Please direct any questions regarding OnCore updates and data entry to April Firstencel, 216.286.2294 or email@example.com.
Thank you in advance for your assistance and efforts in this important endeavor.

Deadline: September 6Susan G. Komen for the Cure
Susan G. Komen for the Cure® is accepting applications for Investigator-Initiated, Career Catalyst Research, and Challenge Grants: Breast Cancer and the Environment.
Challenge Grants- Investigator-Initiated Research Grants seek to stimulate exploration of new ideas and novel approaches in breast cancer research and clinical practice that have the potential to lead to reductions in breast cancer incidence and mortality within the next decade.
Challenge Grants- Career Catalyst Research Grants are open to scientists who have held faculty positions for no more than six years at the time of full application to achieve research independence.
Investigator-Initiated Research (IIR) Grants seek to stimulate exploration of new ideas and novel approaches in breast cancer research and clinical practice that have the potential to lead to reductions in breast cancer incidence and mortality within the next decade.
Career Catalyst Research (CCR) Grants are open to scientists who have held faculty positions for no more than six years at the time of full application to achieve research independence. CCRs provide support for hypothesis-driven research projects that have significant potential to advance our understanding of breast cancer and lead to reductions in breast cancer incidence and/or mortality within the next decade. Studies focusing on quality of life or survivorship issues are not appropriate for this mechanism.
Pre-Application Deadline for all awards: September 10
