Please join us Friday, November 11at the next Cancer Center Seminar Series featuring Eric B. Haura, MD, Associate Professor of Medicine and Oncology at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute. Dr. Haura will present Network Medicine: Can a network approach to cancer enable new targeting strategies, drug targets and biomarkers?, during which he will describe the work his lab is doing using mass spectrometry-based proteomics to characterize cancer kinase signaling networks and the relationships with drugs. He will also describe ongoing efforts to develop protein-protein interaction biomarker strategies.
This seminar is hosted by the Developmental Therapeutics Program, but all are encouraged to attend. CME credit is available.

ANNOUNCEMENTSASCO Report Stresses Need for More Targeted Approach to Clinical Trials
Dr. Neal Meropol was one of three executive editors of a newly released report by ASCO. Accelerating Progress Against Cancer, provides a high-level blueprint for transforming the translational and clinical cancer research system in the US. The report identifies and lays out plans to address three areas that are of immediate importance:
Over the next three years, ASCO will work with partners throughout the cancer research community to develop more detailed plans of action for each of the three areas covered in the report.Gifts to CWRU SOM Establish Professorship in Integrative Oncology
Today, the CWRU SOM announced gifts to establish the inaugural Parker Hannifin-Helen Moss Cancer Research Foundation Professorship in Integrative Oncology. The professorship seeks to change the way cancer is treated by employing the practice of integrative medicine and therapies designed to extend the lives of cancer patients using a more holistic and natural approach, along with traditional medicine.
The Parker Foundation partnered with the Helen Moss Cancer Research Foundation by donating $1 million to help establish the $1.5 million professorship. Helen Moss, a stage-four breast cancer survivor and founder of the Helen Moss Cancer Research Foundation, has spent the past 10 years advocating for integrative oncology. She is the driving force behind the establishment of this professorship, and her foundation is a sponsor of the upcoming Society for Integrative Oncology Conference in Cleveland.
