Fourth Annual Translational to Clinical (T2C) Wound Care Conference
The Fourth Annual Translational to Clinical (T2C) Wound Care Conference will be held April 8-9 at the Ohio State University Ohio Union in Columbus. The conference features lectures by top experts from throughout the country who discuss stem and progenitor cells, contrast tissue regeneration with repair, and describe the latest advances in wound care. Dr. Christopher Lengner from the Whitehead Institute at MIT will present the Regenerative Medicine Distinguished Lecture on iPS Technology in Regenerative Medicine.
4th International Symposium on Cancer Metastasis and the Lymphovascular System
The California Pacific Medical Center Research Institute, Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation, and the Sentinel Node Oncology Foundation will be hosting the 4th International Symposium on Cancer Metastasis and the Lymphovascular System in New York City, May 12-14, as a continuation of the successful Symposium series held biennially in San Francisco since 2005.
The Symposium will feature an ongoing exhibition of posters submitted by Young Investigators and Trainees (including residents, fellows and students). The Symposium Organizing Committee also invites poster abstract submissions from general symposium attendees. General attendees include investigators older than 40 years of age and who are not trainees, residents, fellows or students.

CTSC Pilot Funding: Translational Research through Community-Academic Partnerships and Community Research
The Case Western Reserve University/Cleveland Clinic CTSC is offering pilot funding to support Translational Research through Community-Academic Partnerships and Community Research.
The purpose of this pilot funding opportunity is to enhance existing community and academic partnerships, develop new partnerships and promote community-initiated research projects. Eligible grants will support either joint pilot projects proposed by established community-academic partnerships, the development of new community-academic partnerships or a research project initiated within the community. Applications should focus on translational research and target health disparities, cultural competency, health-focused partnerships, or community clinical research education and outreach.

Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation Macy Faculty Scholars Program
The Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation recently announced its newMacy Faculty Scholars program. This program is designed to identify and nurture the careers of educational innovators in medicine and nursing. Five awards ($100,000 plus fringe) will be granted per year every two years and only ONE faculty member can be nominated per school. Dean Davis would like to have an applicant from the School of Medicine. In order to be eligible, candidates must: 1) be a faculty member for more than five years in a United States accredited nursing school, allopathic or osteopathic medical school (MD or DO); 2) be nominated by the dean of the school; 3) have a faculty mentor who will advise the candidate on the candidate's educational innovation project and on his/her career development; and 4) be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States or its territories. You must also have the approval of your Department Chair as 50% of your effort must be commitment to this program.
If you are interested in this opportunity, please submit the following materials to Carolyn Jenkins (firstname.lastname@example.org) by January 31 so the dean's office can select a single candidate for this award: 1) one-page letter summarizing career objectives; 2) a one page summary of the proposed innovation project; 4) paragraph with mentor's name and relationship; and 5) a copy of your updated CV.

Dr. Robert Elston Named Amasa B. Ford Professor of Geriatric Medicine
Distinguished University Professor Robert C. Elston will be named Amasa B. Ford Professor of Geriatric Medicine at a celebration February 1 at 4:30 pm the in Wolstein Research Building Auditorium. The celebration is open to the entire community. RSVP to Kathy Malone by email or at 368-3109.
NASA Space Radiation Summer School
Applications are now being accepted for the NASA Space Radiation Summer School, June 6–24. This program is designed for graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and faculty with an interest in radiation biology. Both foreign nationals and US citizens may apply to the program. All selected students must satisfy Brookhaven National Laboratory safety and security requirements in order to be admitted. In addition, due to the intense nature of the three-week course, selected students must possess oral and written proficiency in the English language.

New cancer research protocols requiring IRB review will be submitted, reviewed and stored electronically using the Case Cancer IRB electronic, web-based submission and review database provided by iMedRIS™ Data Corporation.
Part 4 (How to Respond to Stipulations) and Part 5 (How to submit Amendments) of the iMedRIS™ training sessions will be offered January through February. All interactive training will be accessible online using Adobe Acrobat Connect and telephone conference line and can be accessed at personal workstations.
